The CBT-1 Cam Bearing Installer smoothly draws both Babbitt and roller bearings into position using a heavy duty sealed-bearing drive hub. Precise-fitting guide plugs supplied in 24 common sizes (up to 55mm roller), hold the bearing square to the housing bore, ensuring straight installation. The included front-alignment cone may also be used to help align the drive head during bearing installation.

Distortion-free installation, elimination of incorrect positioning of the bearings and easy oil-hole positioning make BHJ's Cam Bearing Installer superior to any other method of bearing installation. Bearings may also be removed from the block in the same manner, using the supplied removal sleeve.

Conventional cam bearing installation tools use an expanding rubber-covered mandrel and a large hammer. This method allows the bearing to shift and potentially be driven in crooked. This can cause the camshaft to bind, leading to instant bearing failure. When installing needle type roller bearings, this method is absolutely prohibited by the bearing manufacturer, as it causes sidewall distortion, which locks the needles to the cage and prevents proper rotation.

The CBT-1 is supplied in a sturdy, foam padded plastic case for storage and includes an application size chart for easy guide plug selection.

The maximum useable length of the draw bar is 24", with the Installer assembled as shown above. One or more Draw Bar Extensions may be purchased separately to accommodate longer blocks, such as 6 and 12 cylinder applications. Each extension adds 12.75" of length.

Replacement and larger-size Guide Plugs (including 60mm roller, etc.) are also available. Our latest optional upgrades include Dodge/Ram Cummins B, Ford 6.0, 6.4, 6.7, 7.3 Power Stroke and GM Duramax diesel engines, as well as Chrysler Gen III Hemi engines and large diesel applications.

For projects requiring only one, or a few specific size cam bearings, the Cam Bearing Installer is also available accordingly (part number CBT-1-A). The kit is then supplied with one, or more specific guide plugs, as needed (specify when ordering).
